18 UP trains cancelled for over 45 days
28-November-2014
Fog in many parts of Uttar Pradesh has forced the Indian Railways to cancel 18 trains from here, officials said Friday. The train services will remain suspended between Dec 31 and Feb 15.
Janata Express, Allahabad-Haridwar Express, Kumbh Express, Lucknow-Barauni Express, Barauni Mail, Delhi-Sialdeah Express and Rajdhani Express are among the trains that have been cancelled, officials told IANS.
Others include Avadh-Assam Express and the Chapra-Mathura Express.
Officials admitted the cancellations will be inconvenient for the passengers, but said they were helpless because of the weather conditions.
"We cannot risk the life and safety of passengers nor make them bear endless delays in train schedules," said an official.
More than 12 trains were running delayed due to dense fog on the outskirts of the city, the official said, adding the condition will only worsen in the coming days. - IANS
