26-July-2019
Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasans Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) is in talks with political strategist Prashant Kishor for the party's Assembly election plans, said party sources.
The MNM wants to expand the party base and had called a meeting of local leaders, sources said, adding "the meeting discussed reorganization and expansion of the party structure so as to reach the people across the state."
Queried about engaging Kishor, a party leader said it is not clear whether he will work for MNM alone or for another party as well.
The assembly polls in Tamil Nadu are due in 2021.
MNM candidates failed to win any parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha elections, yet it managed to get a third place in as many as 13 Lok Sabha constituencies, giving the party a hope that it can emerge as an alternative to the two major Dravidian parties -- the AIADMK and DMK. IANS
