Modi government can't safeguard nation's interest: Mulayam
11-November-2014
Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav Tuesday said the Narendra Modi government at the Centre "cannot safeguard the interests of the country" in the wake of the incursions by the Chinese army.
Speaking at an event here, the former union defence minister said during his tenure he had ordered construction of many roads along the Sino-Indian border.
He said the present central government does not have the guts to take on the Chinese incursions. He also said that as long as India is building roads within its boundaries, it shouldn't care what the Chinese say.
"To ensure safety and security at borders, the government must be iron-willed, which sadly the present day government is not," Yadav said.
"This government is a darpok (coward), one which cannot safeguard the interests of the country," he said.
He warned that China cannot be trusted as a neighbour.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also ridiculed Modi's claim of good governance saying all his poll promises had fallen flat. He said the price-rise still remained and no other major change has taken place in the country. - IANS
