Harassed by a bank over repayment of Rs 8 lakh credit card loan, a man committed suicide by jumping to ground from his fourth floor house in the Jagatpuri area of east Delhi.
His wife along with her minor daughter also attempted suicide by jumping from the same building, said a police officer.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the victim, identified as Suresh Kumar, 36, who stayed with wife Manjeet Kaur, 31, and daughter Tanya, 5, committed suicide.
"Unable to prevent her husband from jumping from the fourth floor, Manjeet along with Tanya too attempted suicide. They were taken to a nearby hospital where Suresh was declared brought dead. The condition of Manjeet and Tanya is critical and they are undergoing treatment," said a senior police officer.
"In her statement, Manjeet told the investigating officer that Suresh was being harassed and threatened regularly by bank employees for the last one month over the payment of Rs 8 lakh credit card loan. Her husband was disturbed and depressed for the last few days over the regular torture. He told her that he would commit suicide if he continued to receive threatening phone calls from the bank," the officer added.
"A suicide note was not recovered from the spot," he said.
Suresh, a native of Hoshiyarpur in Punjab was staying in the rented accommodation, he added.IANS
