Absconding JVM-P MLA surrenders in sexual harassment case
25-July-2019
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) legislator and former minister Pradeep Yadav on Thursday surrendered in Deoghar district court after the Jharkhand High Court rejected his anticipatory bail on July 16 in a sexual exploitation case.
The MLA was absconding since his bail was rejected and the police had searched his Ranchi and Godda residences in a bid to arrest him.
A JVM-P woman leader had filed a sexual exploitation case against Yadav in April this year and the allegations were found to be true during the police investigation.
The JVM-P had also removed Yadav from the party's General Secretary post following the incident.
Yadav was a minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Babulal Marandi from 2000 to 2003. He had quit the BJP along with Marandi in 2006. IANS
