The Rajya Sabha on Monday lauded the achievement of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and other scientists for successful launch of Chandrayaan-II.
Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, who was joined by all the members in congratulating the scientists, said that the feat had enhanced the country's pride and confidence. Further, it represents a golden chapter in the history of not only the development of science and technology in India but the country itself, he added.
"This is an important milestone in India's contribution to explore the outer space," the Chairman said.
Naidu also remembered Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space programme, saying Chandrayaan was a tribute from the entire nation to Dr Sarabhai and other scientists who have followed his footsteps.
"The encouragement and support extended by the government led by the minister concerned and the Prime Minister of India has been crucial for the success of this mission for which they also deserve to be complemented," he added. IANS
