Militant killed in J&K gunfight

One militant was killed on Wednesday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town, police said.
The encounter took place in Gund Brath in the outskirts of the town. the body of the militant has been recovered along with a weapon. "Exact identity and group affiliation is being ascertained, the police said.
The gun battle started after security forces comprising special operations group of state po lice (SOG) and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) surrounded the area earlier in the day.
"As the security forces closed in, the hiding militants fired triggering the encounter," an officer said.
Authorities have suspended mobile Internet service in Sopore and also ordered closure of the Sopore Degree College as a precautionary measure. IANS
