Himachal Cabinet for monsoon session from August 19

The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday recommended to the Governor to convene the monsoon session of the state assembly from August 19 to 31, with a total of 11 sittings.

The cabinet, led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, condoled the death of 13 troopers of Assam Rifles and one civilian in a building collapse near Kumarhatti town in Solan district.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to increase the honorarium of water guards from Rs 2,100 to Rs 3,000 and para fitters and para pump operators from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, engaged by the Irrigation and Public Health Department.

This would benefit 6,220 water guards and 500 para fitters and para pump operators, a government spokesperson told IANS.

It decided to continue with the market intervention scheme for the procurement of apples. It was decided to enhance the procurement price from Rs 7.50 to Rs 8 per kg.

As many as 279 procurement centres would be opened across the state to facilitate the apple growers.

A decision was taken that a state-level function would be organised in the state capital on the birth anniversary of first Chief Minister Y.S. Parmar on August 4.

In order to ensure the optimum use of solar energy, the Cabinet decided to provide state subsidy of 30 per cent of the system cost, including installation of solar water heating systems, to the domestic consumers.
