Congress analyst uses cricketing analogy to hit back at critics
11-July-2019
Congress data analyst Praveen Chakravarty, who was targeted after the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, used the Indian cricket team's loss in the World Cup semi-final as a metaphor for the state of affairs in the party.
Chakravarty, in a tweet on Thursday, said that "wisely, the team's support staff is not being blamed solely for this defeat", referring to India's loss to New Zealand.
The remark was seen as a reflection of his own plight as he has been in line of fire after the Congress failed to put up any fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the April-May elections
"Led valiantly by their captain, India had a strong of remarkable wins & fought hard in this crucial game but lost," he said.
Chakravarty was hand-picked by Rahul Gandhi for the 2019 battle. After the poll results, he had congratulated BJP and Modi for "remarkable performance to defy all conventional wisdom and even better their 2014 success". IANS
