India needs to hike spending on health care

India's spending on health care is one of the lowest in the world with the current spend on health care at just a little over 1 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The government in its National Health Policy spoke about increasing the spend to 2.5 per cent of the GDP. But it is far from the target.
The allocated fund for Ayushman Bharat scheme is not matching the size of the problem. I hope this will be addressed on priority to fulfil the demands of the citizens belonging to the lower economic strata for accessibility to quality health care.IANS
