The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought a response from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over a plea by Someshwar Srivastava, brother of alleged middleman Manoj Prasad, to travel to Dubai.

Prasad is accused in a bribery case involving the CBI's former Special Director Rakesh Asthana.

Justice A.K. Pathak issued a notice to the investigative agency and posted the matter for hearing on July 25.

The petitioner told the court that he has been in Dubai since 2006, where his family resides, and had come to India to join investigations on January 14.

Srivastava also contended that he recorded his consent for a polygraph test before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at the Patiala House Court. The test was conducted on March 13.

He informed the court that his residency rights would be curtailed if he remains out of the country beyond July 12, 2019, for a continuous period of six months.

"In case residency is revoked children will be removed from the school and family will be deported," Srivastava has said.

Manoj Prasad is the alleged middleman in the money laundering case against meat exporter Moin Qureshi. The CBI had registered a case against former Special Director Asthana in this matter.  IANS
