Another son rises in DMK, Udhayanidhi appointed as youth wing secretary

The DMK on Thursday appointed its President M.K. Stalin's son and actor-cum-movie producer Udhayanidhi Stalin as its youth wing Secretary.
In a statement issued here, DMK General Secretary K. Anbazhagan made the announcement.
Forty-one-year-old Udhayanidhi replaces former Minister M.P. Saminathan who has been elevated as a member of DMK's high-level executive committee.
In the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls, Udhayanidhi campaigned actively for the DMK front and has been maintaining that he was always part of the party, watching his late grandfather and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and his father Stalin's speeches.
Interestingly, Stalin for a long time headed the party's youth wing from 1982-2017. He quit the youth wing post after becoming the party's Working President while his father Karunanidhi was the party President.
The appointment of Udhayanidhi as the head of DMK youth wing signals the succession plan in the party. IANS
