Election to Patkura Assembly seat in Odisha on July 20
04-July-2019
Elections to the Patkura Assembly seat under the Kendrapara Parliamentary constituency in Odisha will be held on July 20, a notification said on Thursday.
As per the notification of the Election Commission of India (ECI), counting of votes will be held on July 24.
With the notification, the model code of conduct came into force from Thursday.
The election to the Patkura Assembly seat was earlier scheduled to be held in the fourth phase of recently concluded general elections on April 29. However, polling was postponed following the death of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla on April 20.
Later, the ECI postponed the election further for another 60 days in view of cyclone 'Fani' that hit the state on May 3.
The BJD has now fielded the late Agarwalla's wife, Sabitri, from the constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded its senior leader Bijoy Mohapatra. IANS
