Goa Congress 'helpless' after state chief's exit
02-July-2019
A senior Goa Congress MLA on Tuesday said they were helpless in the face of the recent resignation of state President Girish Chodankar.
Chodankar last week joined the spate of Congress officials who resigned from their posts, taking a cue from the party's national President Rahul Gandhi after a poor performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters here, former Chief Minister and Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane said that he was unaware whether Chodankar's resignation on June 28 had been accepted by the Congress high command.
"He has resigned. But whether it is accepted or not I am not aware," Rane told reporters after a meeting of the Congress legislative party.
When asked when a new state President would be appointed in place of Chodankar, Rane said: "Our (national) President has also resigned, so who is going to appoint whom."IANS
