Party in parking: Delhi excise department serves notice on hotel
25-June-2019
The Delhi government's Excise Department on Sunday issued notice to The Hotel Lalit at Barakhamba Road for allegedly organising a 'Boiler Room Party' in the Hotel's parking space for which the organisers had not obtained licences.
The hotel management's said: "The Lalit has always been a law-abiding organisation. We are cooperating with the authorities to clarify the issues."
The Excise Department claimed the event was organised "in the basement which was a violation, as that space could only be used for parking".
The officials in the department said the Boiler Room, founded in London, is an online music broadcasting platform which commissions streaming music sessions around the world.
"In Delhi, the event was hosted on Sunday. Artists from Italy, Denmark and Mumbai were expected to perform at the event attended by over 5,000 people, the officer added.
Officials also claimed that several bar counters were found in the basement and that the authorities did not have permissions from NDMC, fire department, Delhi Police and the health department.
NDMC sources said the civic body is also planning to question the hotel management for illegally using the parking space. However other departments related to the case - fire and health -- have not yet commented.
No FIR has been registered in the case so far. IANS
