KHS circular not binding on TN universities: Jayalalithaa

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Thursday said the Kendriya Hindi Samiti (KHS) decision on teaching Hindi in universities will not be binding on universities in the state.
Jayalalithaa said she has directed the state chief secretary to convey to the universities under state government control to inform the University Grants Commission accordingly.
As per the decision of KHS, Hindi should be taught at the under graduate level as a primary language along with English besides following it in law and commerce disciplines.
She said Anna University and Alagappa University in the state received the related circular Sep 16, 2014.
Jayalalithaa said her party AIADMK will oppose imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi speaking people. - IANS
