Two militants killed in J&K gunfight
28-May-2019
Two militants were killed on Tuesday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police sources said.
The gun battle took place in the forests of Kokernag as the security forces were flushing out the hiding militants.
The bodies of the slain militants have been recovered along with arms and ammunition. Their exact identity is yet to be established, the sources said.
The gun battle started earlier in the day during a search and cordon operation launched on specific inputs. The forces sealed all exit points to ensure the militants did not escape. As the cordon tightened the militants fired at the security personnel triggering the gunfight, they added.
Authorities have suspended mobile Internet facility in the district as a precautionary measure. IANS
