Gurugram Police arrested a Polish national involved in drug trafficking from the upscale DLF Phase-1 area here on Monday.

The accused, identified as Patryk (28), was arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act for carrying 345 grams of high quality opium. Besides, the police also recovered a bag containing 4.285 gms of cannabis after another gang member Quaji threw it away during the police raid and managed to escape.

During investigation, it emerged that Patryk came to India on a tourist visa some six months ago and went to Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh.

"Being a drug addict, Patryk went to Kullu district to obtain drugs. He has visited several places in Himachal as well and come in contact with one Quaji, a resident of Kullu district. Quaji is a drug peddler who helped Patryk to obtain drugs on cheap rates from his local contacts," said Shamsher Singh, ACP (Crime).

Once Patryk spent all the money, he decided to earn more by selling drugs.

Quaji and Partyk establish a gang who procured opium and cannabis cheaply from Kullu and Manali and sold them in others part of the country. The NCR areas were their prime targets due to huge demand and good buying capacity of people.

"Quaji took advantage of Patryk being a foreigner. Besides, Patryk is also a musician and has performed in several high-end parties in Delhi. We are quizzing him to find out his contacts in Delhi, especially party organisers," the ACP said.

"Patryk was earning money this way to live in India. The accused failed to produce visa and a passport. We have informed the Polish Embassy about the arrest of the accused," Singh said.IANS
