Sundar Pichai sports Fossil smartwatch at Google I/O
10-May-2019
While addressing Google's I/O Developers Conference 2019 in California, company CEO Sundar Pichai was spotted wearing a Fossil Sport smartwatch priced at $199, roughly Rs 14,000 in India.
Famed technology YouTuber Marques K. Brownlee, known as MKBHD, recently took to Twitter and asked his 3.21 million followers to identify Pichai's watch.
Twitteraties later cracked the puzzle, stating that the Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) was sporting a Fossil Sport smartwatch with black silicone wristband.
Confirming the popular guess, global watch and accessories maker Fossil Group tweeted, "Look ma we made it! The Sport Smartwatch has been spotted at #GoogleIO2019 on @sundarpichai."
Earlier in January, Fossil had announced that it was selling its smartphone technology to Google for $40 million.
Smartwatch fans have been waiting eagerly for Google to release their own Pixel smartwatch, especially ever since the search-engine giant bought the Fossil technology.
However, the company said that it was not planning a smartwatch product anytime soon.
The smartwatches that Fossil builds run Google's Wear OS software and competes with Apple Watch.
