27-June-2014
At least 35 railway staffers were rescued from a fire which engulfed the fifth floor of the Central Railway administrative building next to the CST here Friday evening.
The fire - cause of which is not yet determined - started about 5.30 p.m. when the evening commuters' rush was at its peak, an official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Disaster Control said.
The administrative building - connected and adjacent to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) world heritage building - houses several important Central Railway departments, including commercial and construction.
At least eight fire tenders rushed to the spot and were battling the blaze which disrupted the suburban train services on the Harbour Line Platform No. 1. - IANS
