At least 10 people including four women were killed and six injured Saturday in three districts of Bihar when lightning struck them, officials said.
Six people were killed in villages near Farbisganj town in Araria district while two each were killed in a village in Katihar and Supaul districts. "All of them were killed by bolts of lightning," said an official of the state disaster management department.
Half a dozen people were injured and are currently hospitalised, he said.
Pre-monsoon rains accompanied by strong winds lashed Araria, Katihar and Supaul early Saturday.
Lightning strikes during the June-September monsoon season are common, with villagers housed in bamboo and grass huts more at risk.- IANS
