Two sisters gang raped in Uttar Pradesh
06-June-2014
Two sisters, both minors, were raped at gun point in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district late Thursday, an official said.
The sisters were raped when they were returning home from a flour mill in Siyapur village.
The victims were dragged into the thickets alongside the road and raped by three men -- all residents of the same village.
Threatening the victims with dire consequences, the rapists escaped.
The girls, however, mustered courage and told their family after which the police was approached.
The girls have been sent for medical examination while the three accused have been apprehended and sent to jail, an official told IANS.
Crime against women has witnessed a sudden spurt in the state with more than a dozen such cases in the last few days alone. The most heinous was the gang rape and murder of two sisters in Badaun district last week. - IANS
