The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), which has decided not to hold any agitational programme on the Ram temple issue till the Lok Sabha polls, is all set to organise a 'Vijay Mahamantra Jaap Anushthan' on Saturday across the country.

The event comes amid when political campaigning for the first phase of polling in 91 parliamentary constituencies spread across 20 states on April 11 would be in full swing.

"Individuals and our various organisations would gather at different places including temples and chowks of villages and would chant 'Shri Ram', 'Jai Ram', 'Jai Jai Ram'," VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal told IANS.

He said April 6 is an auspicious day according to Hindu calendar and a "Sarva Siddhi Yoga" and repeated chants of the "mantra" at least 13 times would ensure victory over hurdles.

The VHP leader said the target is to gather 13 crore devotees across the country.

VHP chief Alok Kumar will attend such an event in Delhi's Jhandewalan temple.

Bansal said that the event has no links with the upcoming elections and and was not a departure from the VHP's announcement.

"This is a religious pledge for construction of Ram temple. There is nothing political in it, since the day is auspicious thus with the chant of the mantra, we want to remove the obstacles in way of construction of Ram Temple," he added.

The move also comes at a time when the Congress and its leaders, including party chief Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, have been making temple visits.-IANS
