Plea in HC to stop 'Ram Ki Janmabhoomi' release
27-March-2019
A man claiming to be a descendant of the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar on Wednesday requested the Delhi High Court to stop the release of the film, 'Ram Ki Janmabhoomi'.
Prince Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy pleaded before Justice Vibhu Bakhru to issue directions to the Centre and the producers of the movie to stop its release.
'Ram Ki Janmabhoomi' is scheduled to release on Friday.
The court observed that the people have to be tolerant if the freedom of speech and expression guaranteed in the Constitution has to survive.
The petitioner said the movie was a personal attack on the royal family and contained defamatory statements, which may lead to communal tension in the country.
The court asked him to file a transcript of the objectionable content and listed the matter for a hearing on March 28.-IANS
