On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, The Weekend Leader has released a video in support of Jaahnavi Sriperambuduru, a young mountaineer from Hyderabad who is on a mission to climb the highest peaks of the seven continents and reach the farthest points on the globe, the North and the South Pole.

The 17-year-old has already summited four of the seven peaks - Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt. Elbrus (Europe), Mt. Kosciusko (Australia), and Mt. Denali (North America) - and holds the record for being the youngest girl from India to climb these peaks.

Jaahnavi is the youngest Indian girl to have summited Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt. Elbrus (Europe), Mt. Kosciusko (Australia), and Mt. Denali (North America)

Jaahnavi has now set her eyes on Mt. Aconcagua (Argentina, South America), Mt. Vinson Massif (Antarctica) and the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest (Nepal, Asia). “I want to do Everest next, and I need to raise Rs 40 lakh for the expedition,” Jaahnavi told The Weekend Leader.

Jaahnavi’s father Krishna Rao, who is also her coach and mentor, is battling stage 4 cancer and is seriously ill, which has made Jaahnavi all the more determined to scale Everest on priority to do it for her dad.

“Dad gave me the first exposure to the wilderness when I was just 10 months old,” remembers Jaahnavi, who scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak in Tanzania (5,895 m) at the age of 12. “I want to climb Everest firstly for dad, secondly for the girl child, and thirdly, for my country.”

The Weekend Leader extends support to Jaahnavi’s #MISSION7SUMMIT through a multimedia #SUPPORTMISSION7SUMMIT campaign. For further information or to contribute, you may visit www.jaahnavi.com.
