Lodge police complaint against Modi, orders EC
30-April-2014
The Election Commission Wednesday instructed Gujarat authorities to lodge a police complaint against BJP leader Narendra Modi for displaying a paper lotus near a polling booth and violating the Model Code of Conduct.
The commission, in a letter addressed to the chief secretary of the state and the director general of police in Gandhinagar, also asked them to register a First Information Report (FIR) against television channels and electronic media which "carried the proceedings or images".
A complaint was filed by the Congress after Modi interacted with the media persons near a polling booth and flashed his inked finger along with a paper lotus flower - the BJP's election symbol - displaying it throughout the interaction with media persons.- IANS
