CBI team looking for graft accused officer attacked in Noida

A CBI team, on the trail of one of its officials accused in a bribery case, was on Saturday attacked by his family when it raided his house here, the agency said. The accused fled in the melee.
The team, comprising an Inspector, a Sub-Inspector, two constables and a woman constable, was forced into a farm house in Sonpura village by CBI Sub-Inspector Sunil Dutt's family members when they reached there.
"The team was attacked by members of Dutt's extended family and others in order to help him to escape from the place. The team was forced inside the premises and were beaten," a CBI statement said, adding Dutt fled through the back door of the premises.
The mobile phones, diaries, and I-cards of some CBI team members were also snatched and burnt, said the statement.
Noida police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving a call and rescued the CBI team which was taken to a hospital for treatment. Based on the complaint from CBI, the local police has registered an FIR. - IANS
