Two militants killed in Kashmir gun battle

Two militants were killed and a policeman was injured Monday in a gun battle between separatist guerrillas and security forces, officials said.
A police officer told IANS that security forces surrounded a house in Ahmad Nagar, 10 km from the Lal Chowk city centre Sunday evening, following intelligence reports about guerrillas hiding inside.
An operation to flush out the militants was launched Monday morning after negotiations to secure their surrender failed.
"When challenged to surrender, the holed-up militants started firing at the security forces, injuring one policeman," the police officer said. - IANS
