BJP leader accused of distributing liquor at party event
08-January-2019
In an embarrassment to the BJP, its Lok Sabha member Anshul Verma has accused another party leader, Naresh Agarwal, of distributing alcohol bottles in food packets at a caste convention in Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh.
Verma has written to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath seeking action against Agarwal.
Agarwal was a Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member but quit the party last year after being denied a ticket to the Upper House of Parliament. He then joined the BJP.
Verma has alleged that Agarwal got small liquor bottles put inside the food packets that were distributed at a 'Pasi Sammelan' at the Shravan Devi temple on Sunday.
Verma, the Lok Sabha member from Hardoi Sadar, has said the conduct of the former Samajwadi Party leader was in contravention with the ethos and policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He has also demanded action the district officials who aided the event.- IANS
