Medvedev reaches Brisbane International quarters
02-January-2019
Daniil Medvedev of Russia on Wednesday ended Briton Andy Murray's bid for a third Brisbane International title after defeating him 7-5, 6-2 at the tournament's second round.
World No. 16 Medvedev prevailed over the 2012 and 2013 champion, who is still recovering from a persistent hip injury, in their first career encounter, reports Efe news.
"I think he served extremely well (and I) did not really get many chances on his service games," world No. 240 Murray said.
"I think when you obviously play better players, they will expose any errors that you make in your game or any shots that you're not hitting particularly well. And he did that tonight," he added.
Medvedev is set to square off against world No. 18 Milos Raonic of Canada, who won 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) over Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia. - IANS
