Governor summons three-day session of Goa Assembly
31-December-2018
Goa Governor Mridula Sinha on Monday summoned a three-day session of the state Assembly from January 29 to 31, a government spokesperson said on Monday.
The session will begin with the Governor's address and the state budget for 2019-20 is also likely to be presented.
The session is crucial in view of the prolonged illness of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who has not stepped into his office at the state Secretariat for several months, after he was diagnosed for advanced pancreatic cancer in February 2018.
The opposition has on several occasions demanded that Parrikar should step aside from his position as Chief Minister, alleging that the state administration was suffering on account of his illness.
The BJP has maintained that Parrikar was fit enough to examine government files as well as take key decisions related to the state administration from his private residence, where he is being treated. - IANS
