No hesitation in becoming PM: Nitish
06-March-2014
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Thursday said he has no hesitation in becoming prime minister, if offered the post, and will prove to be a better leader than anyone else.
A day after he kicked off his party Janata Dal-United's campaign for the Lok Sabha polls, Nitish Kumar made it clear that he has no hesitation in taking on the prime minister's mantle.
In the past, he had ruled out his being in the race for becoming prime minister.
However, Nitish Kumar told media persons in Bettiah during his Sankalp Yatra, in Hindi: "Mujhe PM pad se perhej nahin hain. Main auro se behtar PM sabit hounga" (I have no hesitation in becoming prime minister. I will prove a better prime minister than other candidates).
In a veiled reference to BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, he said one of them lacked experience of working in parliament and the other has no experience in governing a state.
"But I have experience of parliament as well as governing a state. I will be a better prime minister than those in the race already," he said.
"The leaders who have been declared prime ministerial candidate by their parties would not become prime minister. I am certain of it," Nitish Kumar said.
The chief minister said opinion polls and surveys will be proved wrong after the elections.
"There will be a hung parliament and the non-Congress and non-BJP Third Front will form the next government at the centre," he said.
Nitish Kumar said he was hopeful that people of Bihar will vote for his party and will elect a majority in the 40 Lok Sabha seats from the state. - IANS
