Northern army commander reviews security in Valley

Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh on Friday reviewed security along the border and the hinterland in the Valley.
Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen A.K.Bhatt, the Army Commander visited the forward areas in the frontier districts of Kupwara and Baramulla, where the he was briefed about the ground situation.
"During his interaction with troops, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh lauded their professionalism, sharp vigil along the Line of Control and high morale. He exhorted them to remain alert for any eventuality.
"Later in the day, the Army Commander visited hinterland formations and was briefed about the current situation and the recent counter-terrorist operations," said the spokesman.
"The Army Commander complimented the troops for their remarkable successes and also commended them for their dedication to duty.
"Lauding the excellent synergy among all the security forces, he asked all ranks to maintain a safe, secure and peaceful environment for the people of Kashmir," said the spokesman. - IANS
