13-December-2018
Mauritius will organise a 'Gita Mahotsav' in February 2019, the country's acting President, Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, said on Thursday.
Speaking at the inauguration of three-day International Seminar on 'Making New India-Insight of Shrimad Bhagvad Gita' being organised as part of International Gita Mahotsav at Kurukshetra, around 100 km from Chandigarh, Vyapoory said the teaching of sacred Gita is as relevant today as it has been when Lord Krishna delivered celestial message of Gita to Lord Arjuna in the battlefield about 5,300 years ago.
He said a delegation from India has also been invited for the event.
Mauritius is the partner country and Gujarat is the partner state in the 'International Gita Mahotsav 2018' inaugurated in Kurukshetra on Thursday.
Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya described Kurukshetra as a centre of spiritual and religious education.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the sacred Bhagvad Gita is not confined only to spiritualism but has a practical relevance.
Khattar said BJP President Amit Shah was scheduled to visit the holy town on Thursday to attend the International Gita Mahotsav but he could make it due to some health issues.-IANS
