Atletico Madrid gear up to face Monaco in Champions League
27-November-2018
Atletico Madrid held their final training session on Tuesday before hosting Monaco in the return leg of the Champions League group stage.
Absent from practice due to injury were defenders Diego Godin, Jose Maria Gimenez and Juanfran Torres as well as forward Diego Costa, who are all likely to miss Wednesday's game, reports Efe news.
Head coach Diego Simeone led the session with the available first team players, including French forward Antoine Griezmann and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey among others, as documented by an epa-efe journalist.
Atletico beat Monaco 2-1 in their first Group A clash in September.
Group A leader Borussia Dortmund is tied with Atletico at nine points, but is ahead on goal differential.
This means Simeone's squad will need to do well against bottom-placed Monaco to win the group, then hope Borussia fares worse against Club Brugge, in third with four points.-IANS
