Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan resigns

Environment and Forests Minister Jayanthi Natarajan has resigned, said an official statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan Saturday.

President Pranab Mukherjee "as advised by the prime minister has accepted the resignation of Jayanthi Natarajan, minister of state (independent charge) for Environment and Forests, from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect", the statement said.
"The president has directed Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas M. Veerappa Moily shall be given additional charge of the work of the ministry of environment and forests," added the statement. - IANS
