09-October-2018
A 41-year-old security guard riding a cash van carrying Rs 5 crore was seriously injured as a group of unidentified men fired at him in south Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the incident happened on the DND (Delhi-Noida Direct) flyover around 10 p.m. on Monday when victim Bishambar and his colleagues, who work for a security agency, were on way to deliver three boxes of cash from Janakpuri to Noida.
Complainant Sandeep Kumar, 27, said that he was sitting on the van's rear seat while Bishambar was sitting beside driver Mahender when some men in a Scorpio SUV overtook their vehicle and forced them to stop.
"A man came out and started scolding our gunman (Bishambar)... another car came from behind and the men opened fire at the cash boxes."
They eventually shot at Bishambar and fled, leaving one of their cars behind when Kumar ran away to make a call to the police. The car was seized.
"We are scanning CCTV footage from the area to trace the accused," the officer said.- IANS
