The Madras Reporters Guild condoles the death of journalist Gnani

The Madras Reporters Guild condoled the death of writer, journalist and playwright Gnani, 64, who passed away in the early hours of Monday.
In his death, the world of journalism has lost a fearless and courageous person, said R. Rangaraj, President, Madras Reporters Guild.
In a press statement, Rangaraj said, Gnani , began his career as N V Sankaran, a reporter, in the Indian Express, Chennai. He had a deep passion for Tamil literature and theatre. He began to write under the pen name Gnani and soon he was fondly called Gnani in the world of literature, journalism and theatre.
He launched his own publication called Dheem Dhari Kita, and continued it for several years despite lack of sponsors and corporate support. His theatre group Pareeksha conducted several plays of Gnani and other playwrights. An outspoken writer, he would take on anyone in power using the might of his pen.
He had also worked for the welfare of journalists as an office-bearer of the Madras Reporters Guild, the statement added. - TWL Bureau
