26-December-2017
The bodies of two teenaged sisters were found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, adjoining Delhi, on Tuesday, police said.
The bodies, identified as that of Laxmi, 18, and her sister, Nisha, 13, were spotted by a local in Barola village when he went to relieve himself at a drain near the tree, police said.
"Prima facie, it appears to be a suicide case but the family is claiming both the sisters were murdered and hanged from the tree," a police officer said.
"No suicide note was found from the spot. We are investigating the case with all possible angles including homicide and suicide.
"The family members are also suspecting the involvement of their relatives, Rishi, Billoo, Ravi and Rohit in the crime as they often used to torture the girls," he added.
The two sisters belonged to a poor family in Barola village, police said.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem to examine whether they were sexually assaulted, he added. - IANS
