Charges framed against Vikas Barala, friend
13-October-2017
A district court here on Friday framed charges of attempted abduction and stalking against Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP President Subhash Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar.
Both were arrested on August 9 after 29-year-old Varnika Kundu, daughter of a senior Indian Administrative Service officer of Haryana, lodged a case with Chandigarh Police that the two, in an inebriated condition, stalked and intimidated her and tried to abduct her on August 4-5 night.
The accused have been charged under Sections 354-D, 365, and 341 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case trial will begin on October 27.
A local court had on September 12 again rejected the bail pleas of the two for the second time.
Both were booked under non-bailable offences, including attempt to abduct Varnika under Section 365 (kidnapping or abduction with intent to confine person) and Section 511 (attempt to commit offence punishable with life imprisonment) of the IPC.
Vikas and Ashish, who have both studied law, have denied the charges. - IANS
