Why raids and ED notices only to opposition, asks Cong

The Congress on Saturday sought to know why raids and Enforcement Department notices were issued only to the "leaders of opposition parties and where there were governments of the political opponents" and not in BJP-ruled states.
"As far as raids and allegations are concerned, as long as I don't have full information, I can't say anything," said senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal.
"But I want to ask one question to the government. In India, there are many opposition leaders and state governments run by opponent parties. Is there any state where CBI has not raided or ED has not issued notices wherever there are governments of the political opponents," asked Sibal.
"CBI has not raided where there is government of the ruling party, be it in the Centre or in the states. Is it so that all the BJP governments are clean and rest of us are culprits," he added.
The Congress had on Friday termed the CBI raids on RJD leader Lalu Prasad and his family a "vendetta", and said when law enforcing agencies become captive puppets for exacting revenge on political opponents, it doesn't bode well for democracy. - IANS
