India's factory output accelerates in April

A healthy performance of the manufacturing sector accelerated India's factory output last month, official data showed on Monday.
The factory output, as per the new Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with revised base year of 2011-12, has grown by 3.1 per cent during April from a rise of 2.7 per cent reported for March 2017.
The factory output had expanded by 1.9 per cent during February 2017.
As per the IIP data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), last month's expansion was mainly on account of a 2.6 per cent rise in manufacturing output, which has the maximum weight in the overall index. - IANS
