Sindhu, Kashyap reach Denmark Open quarters

Indian shuttlers P.V. Sindhu, Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the quarter-finals of their respective categories at the $600,000 Denmark Open Super Series Premier here Thursday.
Two-time World Championship bronze medallist Sindhu needed only 31 minutes to move past Russia's Ksenia Polikarpova 21-17, 21-19 in their first ever women's singles match.
Later, playing at the Odense Sports Park, Srikanth defeated Chinese Taipei's Jen Hao Hsu 21-15, 21-12 in 45 minutes in their first men's singles contest.
Reigning Commonwealth Games champion Kashyap, however, had a tough outing against Indonesian Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka. The Hyderabadi needed an hour and nine minutes to move past Rumbaka with a scoreline of 21-17, 17-21, 22-20 level their head-to-head to 2-2.
Seventh seed and 2012 champion Saina Nehwal will play her women's singles match later in the day. - IANS
