A young farmer from a remote village in Telangana on Wednesday received a phone call from no less than Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, who reacted after the farmer's Facebook post about his land problem went viral.

Sharath, through his FB live on March, had complained how his seven acres in Nandulapalli village in Mancherial district was allotted to others by the Village Revenue Official (VRO) after manipulating the land records. He said the problem was not solved though he had been running around the government offices for 11 months.

Sharath wanted his Facebook post to be shared by all so that it reaches the Chief Minister. KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, took note of the farmer's plight and spoke to him over phone. He told the farmer that officials will reach him in half-an-hour.

On the direction of the Chief Minister, District Collector Bharati Hollikeri launched an immediate inquiry and rushed to the farmer's house to gather all details. She said steps were initiated to restore the farmer's land.

The Collector ordered suspension of the VRO and a revenue inspector for allegedly manipulating the record. She also provided financial assistance to the farmer under 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme. Under this scheme, every farmer is being provided Rs 8,000 per acre annually.-IANS
