23-November-2017
Three BJP activists were arrested here on Thursday in connection with smearing of banners displaying Biswa Bangla logo with coal tar, police said.
"Three BJP activists were arrested today (Thursday)," said an official of the Lake Town police station.
Amid controversy about the ownership of Biswa Bangla logo, some miscreants allegedly put coal tar on it and also on photographs of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, printed on banners along both sides of the VIP road in the northeastern outskirts of the city.
State BJP President Dilip Ghosh said the Trinamool Congress is trying to dupe people with the brand.
"They are trying to dupe everyone... the state and country. We have proof. Those who have done it (smearing with coal tar) have done the right thing... one must protest such attempts to fool people," he said.
In response, state Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said: "I dont know how he became member of the House. The way he talks and behaves... is tainting their party and leadership." - IANS
