Army rescues 71 tourists trapped in Ladakh mountain pass

The Army said on Tuesday that its timely rescue has saved 71 tourists in the Ladakh region, who were trapped in a mountain pass blocked by an avalanche.
"Indian Army troops deployed in Eastern Ladakh responded to aid of civilians trapped at the Chang La Pass due to an avalanche that struck between Chang La and Tangtse," a defence statement issued here said.
"71 tourists, including 21 women and children, were rescued and provided medical assistance, food, clothing and accommodation," it added. - IANS
