A female Snapdeal executive, who was abducted from a Metro station here, has managed to reach home from Haryana where she had been taken, police said, adding her friends circle is being investigated to ascertain if anyone known was involved in the crime.

Deepti Sarna, 23, was abducted on Wednesday night while returning home in from the Vaishali Metro station.

On Friday morning, she called up her father Narendra Sarna and told him that she had managed to flee from her abductors and had reached the New Delhi Railway Station. Her grandfather K.N. Sarna said that at 6 a.m., she called up from an unknown mobile number and told him that she had managed to flee and asked him to pick her up from the station.

The father, who immediately rushed to Delhi, also informed police.

"On family information, we also reached the railway station and escorted her to her residence. The SSP also met the girl at the border and inquired briefly," said Superintendent of Police, City, Salman Taj Patil.

The woman and her family were asked to come with them to Vaishali police post where the SSP questioned the victim and allowed them to go later.

The woman was taken for a medical examination but hospital sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that only a partial examination could be conducted since she refused to give consent for examination of her private parts. In such case, only outside physical injuries are taken on record.

Police are also screening the executive's personal life and friend circle. Top police sources said they are focussing on her former boy friend Vikram and the present one whom she called when kidnapped, as they want to ascertain whether they were involved. The thrust is being given to her friends circle in addition to other angles.

Deepti told police that she was blindfolded after her last call to her father and a friend and she did not know where she was exactly taken. She said her abductors treated her well, providing her food of her choice.

During the 36 hours she was in their grip, they transported her on a motorcycle, car and on foot, and also kept her in a sugarcane field also for some time. She said that they told her that they had high connections in political circles and could arrange a meeting with a high power politician also.

She said that early on Friday, she was left at a railway platform, with her captors giving her Rs.100 for her fare, and took a train which seemed going to Delhi. On her way, she made out one of the stations they passed as Narela and took a help from a passenger to call her father and tell him she was reaching the New Delhi Railway Station.

Deepti, 23, was abducted by four criminals in garb of an auto driver and passengers on Wednesday night while on her way to her home here. She usually took the metro up to Vaishali station in Ghaziabad, and from there, an auto-rickshaw to her house, located around eight km from the station.

"The girl was abducted from Vaishali Metro station by four abductors in an auto. They changed to another vehicle when their auto developed some defects and could not proceed further beyond Raj Nagar Extension. From there they reached Morti village on foot and allowed the other woman to go.

"Her (Deepti's) mobile's last location was traced at Morti village from where they changed her to another vehicle and on the onward journey, used a motorcycle also. They forced her to walk about 10 km in different slots with eyes blindfolded. From Morti onward, they switched off her mobile phone " said Patil.

Deepti's mobile phone, laptop, purse and some other personal articles were snatched by the abductors and are yet to be recovered.

"Prima facie it seems a case of kidnapping for ransom but we are still not sure of the conclusion since we have taken version of the victim and the questioning of suspects is still lying pending... But it is sure that she was abducted in an auto by four abductors including a woman. It is yet to be ascertained whether the woman accomplice was their gang mate or a stray passenger, added the SP, City. - IANS
