Two women held with silver near Bangladesh border

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday apprehended two women and seized silver worth over Rs.2 lakh from them near the Bangladesh border in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
The seizure was made by the troopers of 76 battalion of the BSF under Bithari border outpost.
"A special operation team intercepted two ladies moving suspiciously towards the international border. On frisking, three packets containing six kg of silver ornaments valued at Rs.2.09 lakh were seized from them," said a BSF spokesperson.
Identified as Bilkis Bibi and Marupa Khatun, both the accused are residents of the district and have been handed over to police.
In another operation, the troopers on Tuesday night confiscated four kg of ganja (cannabis) while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh from near the Banpur border outpost in Nadia district of the state. - IANS
