Oman's Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday conducted the second of its multi-city roadshows series in Mumbai to woo more tourists to that country, officials said.

Oman's Undersecretary in the Ministry of Tourism Maitha Saif Al Mahrouqi and India Representative Lubaina Sheerazi interacted with around 140 top tourism companies and all other stakeholders to discuss ways for attracting more Indian tourists.

"Oman offers an authentic Arabian experience with genuine hospitality, stunning landscapes, scenic beauty, a rich culture, great historic monuments, a beautiful coastline and state-of-the-art infrastructure, combining old world charm and modernism. These makes it a perfect destination for families, groups, weddings, honeymooners and businessmen," said Mahrouqi.

Sheerazi said India is an important and vast market for Oman for both leisure and business travelers offering world-class holiday spots to top hotels, convention and exhibition centres for the crucial MICE segments.

In the past five years, Oman has witnessed over 31 percent growth in Indian arrivals, and last year it notched seven percent increase with more than 321,000 visiting the country.

As part of the country's Tourism Strategy 2040, Oman plans to open up major developments and projects in the hospitality sector including a new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport, Electronic Visas for 10, 30 days and one year validity and other initiatives, said Mahrouqi.- IANS
