Coimbatore geared to host ‘Fearless Leadership’ summit

23 Feb 2012

Coimbatore based Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology is all set to host the second edition of Sri Shakthi India Leadership Summit (SSILS) on 3rd March 2012 at Hotel Le Meridien in Coimbatore.

The summit is being organized to build leadership qualities among the engineering and business college students in the country.

Author Chetan Bhagat at last year’s summit

Last year a galaxy of achievers from various fields including Dr.Satinath Sarangi (The Week Magazine’s Man of the Year 2010), IPS officer Dr. Sylendra Babu, Gopinath (TV anchor), and Rukmini Vijaykumar (Actor and Dance Artist) spoke at the summit.

“The idea behind the summit is to provide an opportunity for students to learn leadership skills from leaders and achievers themselves. It is more effective than learning about leadership in theory. This interaction with the achievers would help them in their career,” says Dheepan T, Event Director, and managing trustee of the college. The theme for this year’s summit is “Fearless Leadership.”

The highlight of this year’s summit would be the ‘Startup story telling’ and ‘Product story telling’ contests for students.

“In business, it is important to articulate your ideas well. Steve Jobs had mastered the art, and look where it took him. In order to encourage this quality, we have these two contests where participants would submit abstracts of their startups and products.

“Shortlisted candidates would be invited to make presentations in Coimbatore on 2 March 2012. Two from each category would be given prizes at the summit the following day,” says Dheepan.

The last day for submission of abstracts is February 3, 2012. Student delegates who register before February 3 get a discount in registration fees.
